Designing a product considered 'smart' creates challenges in both physical and digital interaction. COBI is a smart product for cyclists that takes the cycling experience to the next level. It enhances road safety and interaction with other cyclists.
The main function of COBI is road safety. COBI is a bracelet that indicates the actions of a cyclist. The actions are detected by movements of the arm. The bracelet also communicates with other bracelets of cyclists around you. This creates opportunities to create extra interaction between different cyclists
Product structure
Next to a bracelet, we have created a mobile application to facilitate the setup. This all is working for and together with the cyclist.
Every COBI bracelet is connected. This enables to improve group safety (as indicating the direction of the group can be shown on every bracelet). Also, gamification will be added in the future.
User Interface
An application is developed and interaction is tested through an Adobe XD mockup.
Prototype
A functional prototype is developed. A physical test platform is created to house all electronics and execute testing.
